The first time we fought against Bourgard, we were young and inexperienced. We attacked him with the zeal of undisciplined youth, relying on the brute force we'd become accustomed to using to power our way through the meaty looking boss and loot his horde. After 3 hours, he still had 30% of his health remaining, and although it said the battle ended in a "draw" and not defeat, we all knew that was equivalent to receiving a participation ribbon so as not to have the feel badz and cry ourselves to sleep.
Last night was different.
The PALE_RIDERS, swords and bows in hand, rode hard. No more were we under the illusion of supremacy, for he had bested us once, so this time we sought revenge. Many mana potions were imbibed, and the hideous form of Bourgard was trampled beneath our hooves and his entrails were strewn about the broken battlefield.
After only 1 hour of battle, we were triumphant!
NICE WORK RIDERS!
It looks like all of our preparation paid off! The extra week we put into enhancing our teams and collecting potions was exactly what we needed to extract our revenge! We had the help of a few new members as well, which really helped. In the end we had 19 of our Riders show up to do battle and roll for the spoils of victory! IN the end the lucky winners of special prizes were:
- GOLD - Psilence (Me) with the roll of 62! Received: Bourgard!
- SILVER - Hlakgr with a 90! Received a Berserker!
- BRONZE - BrokenSword with a 73! Received a Heavy Swordman!
Yea, the rich got richer... I wish someone else could have received that Bourgard because I don't really need it, and a similar statement of regret was echoed by BrokenSword who felt he wasn't entitled to it since he didn't do much damage. Guys, there is no need to feel bad, it's random and that's some of the fun!
BLUE CHESTS & RED CHESTS! HUZZAH!
Now that we've all gotten to sample some of the fruits of our labors, what kinds of things did you guys get? Did you ever get the mysterious and elusive BLUE (Bronze?) chest whose splendors are unimaginable? I was hitting from the front and was lucky enough to have a few blue chests drop, but only one of them had something good in it (4* Archmage). Hopefully you guys had better success!
There was a point during the raid when I stopped hitting and just stayed back and pressed refresh every minute or so to see how things were going for the team. It was kinda fun to watch members points accumulate and see them changing positions in the standings. When I decided to join back in for 2x more hits because Bour was at 2% life, on my 2nd last attack against him I opened a red chest with both a Stone AND a Streak in it. I though to myself "Man, no way can this last attack beat that!"
... I made the final attack...
... *Suddenly, a wild BLUE chest appears!* ...
... and I get 100 Charms and a Crossed Swords! :S
What was the best thing YOU received form the raid? I got two of the chests that contained both a Stone and Streak as well as the Archmage and a Stone Guardian. There were a bunch of 3* in there as well, but none of them outstanding.
I also once killed a Bourgard from the front and received NO CHEST AT ALL!? Did that happen to anyone else?
CHANGES TO PRIZES AWARDED
According to the forums, they JUST changed the rewards that were given out for defeating the guild raid bosses. We USED to receive 4* cards for finishing in gold tier but they have since been reduced to 3* cards. I don't really like those changes, as I feel it slows down the progression of newer guilds like ours. We are going to have a tough time with Jezebel raids for the foreseeable future (I'm not even joking when I say close to a month) and they've also reduced her prize drops to 3*'s so I'm not sure where that leaves us in terms of raids.
Regardless of rewards, there is a bigger issue that I'd like to point out...
WE'RE RUNNING LOW ON SCROLLS OF CRUELTY
We've got enough of the scrolls that enable us to battle Bourgard for two more activation's. After that, I can see us running into a strange problem: we're all beyond the point in the game when we farm areas that DROP scrolls of Cruelty! So we'll have to figure out what we're going to do to earn more, but I think we should devote a day to only questing in the area where they drop in order to get restocked when we run out / low. I'll confirm where the best drop spots are for the scrolls of cruelty we require and post it when I know (as well as a special day when we should all farm there).
COMMON QUESTIONS:
There were a few questions I was asked after the raid and I thought I'd post them here for you all incase you were wondering the same things:
- What are Donkeys? They are cards used for enhancing that will add one (or more!) levels to a card. So try to save them for a high * value card that's already at a high level, since those would typically use more feeders and therefore you get better value out of the donkeys free level.
- What are the Crossed Swords? They are "mana" that you get back after the battle. While mostly useless, you could theoretically build a party that could raid an additional time should you receive a crossed swords. Yea, I know... terrible!
- What happens if (when lol) we fail Jezebel Raid? I don't know, but I'm guessing we find out this afternoon! ;)
